Our commitments to you
Simple promises about how we handle the numbers you trust us with.
- ✓You own your data. It's yours — you can export it or delete it permanently whenever you want.
- ✓We only use it to power your dashboards. Nothing else. No selling, no ad-targeting, no training models on it.
- ✓Encrypted and access-controlled. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, with strict least-access internal controls.
- ✓Built to GDPR standards. We design our data handling around EU data-protection principles.
- ✓Transparency on request. Questions about how your data is stored or processed? We'll answer them plainly.
- ✓Reading your mailbox is read-only, and only when you ask. If you connect a mailbox so Glance can find receipts and invoices, we only ever read. We never send, never delete, never mark anything read, and never move a message. Gmail and Outlook (including Hotmail and Live) connect with Google's and Microsoft's own sign-in, so you grant read access and can withdraw it in your account settings at any time.
- ✓For Yahoo and iCloud, we hold an app password — and here is what that means. Neither provider offers a read-only sign-in, so connecting them means creating an app-specific password and giving it to us. We store it encrypted, never in plain text and never in a log, and we only ever read with it. But we want you to know the honest shape of it: that password grants more access than we use, and it keeps working until you delete it at Yahoo or Apple. Disconnecting in Glance deletes our copy and stops us reading — it does not revoke the password itself. We tell you where to do that, on the screen where you disconnect.
- ✓Original emails are kept only as long as you choose. When Glance reads a mailbox to build an expense record, the original message text is kept so every figure can be checked against the email it came from. You decide how long — one year by default — and you are told that before you agree, not afterwards. After that it is deleted automatically. The extracted rows stay yours until you delete them.
- ✓Health data is off unless you turn it on. Glance can read health measurements — weight, blood pressure, sleep, lab results — but only after you explicitly say so, for one source at a time. It is off by default, you can withdraw at any time, and the original document (a lab report, say) is never kept — only the measurements, in a dataset you own and can delete.
Holding a mail password is a real responsibility and we would rather say so plainly than bury it. It applies to Yahoo and iCloud only, because those providers give us no read-only option. If your compliance review needs the specifics — encryption at rest, who can access it, how it is revoked — ask us and we will answer in writing.
Glance is an early-stage product and our formal privacy policy and data-processing documentation are being finalised. See our Government & public authority data request policy for how we handle requests from authorities. If you have specific data-handling or compliance requirements, get in touch and we'll walk you through our setup.
